HIGHVIBES STRENGTHEN ITS MISSION IN EMPOWERING RIGHT OWNERS ACROSS AFRICA

HIGHVIBES OPENS DEDICATED PUBLISHING DEPARTMENT TO STRENGTHEN ITS MISSION IN EMPOWERING SONGWRITERS ACROSS AFRICA

Between October 2020 and December 2020, Highvibes has been able to publish more than 3,000 songs due to its partnership with Songtrust

At the end of the 3Q20, Highvibes announced its partnership with Songtrust, the world’s largest and most accessible music publishing administrator, with the goal to empower one million African songwriters, producers and creators by 2030.

By partnering with Songtrust to offer rights holders, songwriters, creators, and businesses the ability to collect worldwide publishing royalties with a professional global administration network, Highvibes has been able to publish more than 3,000 songs between October 2020 and December 2020, the first quarter of the partnership. Highvibes is currently maintaining a weekly growth rate of 13% in music creators, setting a giant pace in music publishing across Africa.

In order to meet the increasing demand from songwriters across the continent, Highvibes has opened a dedicated publishing department for its music creators. The company has hired Welbeck Tawiah to oversee its publishing services as he has been an artist manager for The defunct - Tema Reggae Band, Abakade, Addi Shyne, Alpha Bankz, King Pauldgreatest and various artists for more than a decade, and has gained a lot of experience in handling afro-centric publishing needs for artists over the years.

With 35% of Highvibes’ music creators living in South Africa, Highvibes also employed Dr. Maringa as its new South Africa Country Manager. Dr. Maringa was the CEO of Africa Unite Pty Ltd, a record label which has worked with over 500 artists from across South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

After the music publishing survey conducted by Highvibes in November 2019 at Music In Africa Conference for Collaboration, the biggest showcasing and networking event in Africa, Highvibes found that 95% of songwriters, producers, and creators in Africa have been unpublished since 2018.

“Backed by Songtrust’s technology, Highvibes is offering the best bespoke services for music creators across Africa as the continent discovers the Digital Market. There is more to Africa,” said Doe Dornyo, COO and Co-Founder of Highvibes.

“Songtrust has been a priceless asset for songwriters, producers, and artists for collecting their publishing royalties from more than 215 countries worldwide. Since Highvibes partnered with Songtrust back in October 2020, Highvibes has been able to publish over 3,000 songs within such a short period" - Welbeck Tawiah, Head Of Publishing & Artist Services at Highvibes.

According to PWC, by 2023, total E&M revenue in South Africa is expected to reach R170.5 billion, up from R128.9 billion in 2018. With 35% of Highvibes music creators from South Africa, Highvibes’ physical presence in the country is essential and initiated Dr. Maringa joining the Highvibes global team as the Country Manager in South Africa.

‘I've always been an advocate for independent artists across South Africa, the goals at Highvibes and Songtrust align with what I represent, I'm excited to be a part of Highvibes,’ said Dr. Maringa, Highvibes’ Country Manager for South Africa.

With the steady growth of Highvibes which has been exceptional and its unique services  powered by Songtrust’s technology, Highvibes is on track to publish over 100,000 songs for music creators across Africa by the end of 2021.
